Landfill Opposition Resolution

On April 19th the Democratic Party took a stand on the purposed landfill in Walnut Cove. We asked our friends in the Republican Party to stand with us on this issue. So far not a word from them. Maybe one day they will take the concerns of our citizens to heart.

Danbury - Apr 19, 2008 The Democratic Party of Stokes County, adopted a resolution opposing the construction of a demolition landfill near the town of Walnut Cove. The resolution was introduced at the party's annual county convention by Jerry Rutledge. The Democratic Party encourages the county commissioners to not approve the special use zoning needed for the landfill to open. The resolution went on to encourage the Republican Party of Stokes County to likewise adopt the same resolution in a non-partisan manner for the protection of our resources.
